I think my engine is fixable. Read on.
Went and started unbolting stuff to see if I maybe snapped a camshaft or the timing chain slipped or something else incredibly stupid obvious like that. After unbolting an unreasonable amount of stuff to get the valve cover off...
Can you see the problem?
One of the valve lash adjusters (tappet screw) fucked off! Neat!
I got a nut. Also, I found this part of the adjuster. The screw itself is still MIA.
A tiny part of it is over here. That’s all I can find. I’m not sure at this point if I should remove the camshafts or not. Chances are it’s down in the oil pan somewhere.

And I was so looking forward to the LS swap too...but this outcome is probably for the best.

Had the same thing happen to me with my 3 wheeler, crappy part is it happened after I took a six hour drive so I could ride it in the mountains, and I didn’t figure it out until I went six hours back home. I got lucky and mine just fell of to the side still in the head and I got it right out. Hopefully you find the screw easily and it didn’t wreck anything on the way down.
